The Archdiocese of New Orleans and Seton Education Partners seek a mission-driven, faith-filled, results-oriented leader for St. Rita Catholic School. We are looking for a dynamic educator who has achieved strong academic results with their students and wants to dramatically increase their reach. Leaders in the Seton Network of schools maintain high expectations of themselves and scholars at the school, are organized and prepared to lead, and treat all scholars, families, and colleagues with the upmost respect. Prior experience with blended learning is not required, but talent, drive, and a desire to lead and work to develop a no-excuses, high-expectations school that creates college-bound scholars and saints is mandatory.
About St. Rita. St. Rita Catholic School has been cultivating New Orleans' strong leaders, dedicated servants, and curious learners for over 90 years. At St. Rita, 80% of the students we serve qualify for the federal meals program, and the majority of our students are African-American. Our mission, permeated by the charism of the Marianites of Holy Cross, is to celebrate Catholic tradition, strive for academic excellence, and nurture student growth within a family atmosphere of love, compassion, and service. In 2015, St. Rita partnered with Seton to become the first blended learning Catholic school in the city in an effort to create a personalized and data-driven instructional program that ensures that each student thrives in both college and life.
About Seton. Seton Education Partners was co-founded in 2009 by KIPP Foundation co-founder Scott Hamilton and Teach For America alumna Stephanie Saroki de García to expand opportunities for traditionally underserved children to receive a Catholic education that builds knowledge, character, and faith. Seton does this by strategically infusing creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and talented leadership to reverse the widespread decline of urban Catholic education. Seton pioneers new, “break-the-mold” approaches to achieving the academic, character, religious and social justice goals of Catholic education in an economically viable way.
About the Network. The Seton Blended Learning Network is an innovative twelve school, seven city blended learning driven by results, smart collaboration, and character formation that serves over 3,000 students, of whom 98% are minorities and over two-thirds qualify for the federal meals program. Our model employs a mixture of technology, creative problem-solving, game-changing “no excuses” school culture, and nationwide sharing of best practices. This approach can help Catholic schools continue their social justice mission of providing character-building, opportunity-equalizing, and faith-forming education for children most in need. The program has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Education Week, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and US Catholic. To learn more, you can watch this video.
Our Results. Since joining the network, Seton Blended Learning schools have seen climbing enrollment, reduced per pupil costs, and improved student achievement. Our schools have achieved growth on par with or outpacing that of the highest-performing charter networks while simultaneously driving a collective 31% increase in enrollment. Furthermore, Seton Blended Learning Network schools will realize a 20% operating cost reduction in year two and beyond, thus increasing viability and showing the way for other financially struggling Catholic schools to do the same.
